Embrace the Vision of Short-Term Missions
To embrace the vision, we must
discover and understand its purpose. This happens as you ask
questions and learn about the formation and function of a Short-Term
Mission team. Harvest Preparation has 14 years of experience working
with local churches and their leadership, developing and sending
Short-Term Mission teams. Are you developing a Short-Term Mission
team for the first time or experienced in your Short-Term Mission
effort? Our staff is on hand to answer questions and give
insight as you develop and increase the vision for Short-Term
Missions in your congregation.
Impart the
Vision
We
know the need for the local pastor to embrace and impart the vision
of local church ministry, and we are available to assist. We would
be happy to have a representative from Harvest Preparation
International Ministries come to share with your leadership,
congregation and/or
Short-Term Mission
team. We have available presentations, overhead transparencies,
Power Point and videos.
Strategy
It is necessary to have a strategy; a plan to see the
implementation of the vision that has been embraced and imparted.
The Bible speaks of counting the cost before you begin to build. The
next step in developing a strategy is to count the cost. There is
specific and unique cost for each Short-Term Mission to be
considered. The ongoing experience of Harvest Preparation in the
changing environments of third world countries will be a great asset
to your planning process. We can also assist in your counting the
cost within the local church. Through the years we have been a part
of many congregations successfully initiating a powerful, anointed
Short-Term Missions ministry.
Preparation
The key to all Short-Term Missions is preparation. Without
preparation the team being sent and the church receiving their
ministry will have less than God’s desire for them. Team preparation
must take place on two levels--practical and spiritual. Harvest
Preparation has resources to help in this preparation. Our practical
resources include information regarding Mime, Drama, Puppets, and
Tracts printed in the language of the people you are ministering to.
We also have available to your team leader a Short-Term Mission
Training Manual with Audio Tapes to assist in spiritual preparation.
Our resources increase year to year and are available to you.
Networking
Synergism; the simultaneous
actions of separate agencies which, together have greater total
effect than the sum of their individual effects. This is a great
word to define and describe the benefit to the Kingdom of God when
we network together for His purposes.
That is the heart’s desire of Harvest Preparation. We provide a
variety of opportunities for networking in the U.S. and in
developing countries, so together we can know our fullest potential
in answering the call to the great commission. Truly the fields are
ripe unto harvest!
